The Resort

Font Romeu is a lively ski resort with a southern Catalan feel in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees. It is located just 89km from Perpignan, on the Mediterranean coast and has a close proximity to Spain and Andorra. It is renowned for its sunny days and warm Catalan welcome but also for its snow sure ski resort.

Everything is so easy in Font Romeu - the cable car is located in the centre of town, just beside the tourist office, so it is literally a case of enjoy your breakfast and then jump on the cable car up to the snowy areas above –
whether you are downhill skiing or cross country skiing, both areas are located on the slopes. So even the cross country skiers get toenjoy the relaxed atmosphere on the mountain. Here in Font Romeu it is all about fun and good times.

At the centre of the village is a buzzing array of small streets lined with shops, bars, restaurants and tea rooms. The area is very proud of its great Catalan and French food as well as the selectionof excellent local wines. The amazing thing about the Catalan Pyrenees is that due to its proximity to the coast, you can enjoy the great seafood as well as mountain cuisine. So, for lunch you can have fondue on the slopes and in the evening perhaps razor clams or grilled seafood or paella. There are delicatessens and restaurants offering wine and cured meat tasting and excellent gourmet restaurants with stunning views of the Catalan Pyrenees and over to Spain.

After a great day skiing and enjoying the sunshine and good food on the slopes, you can pop in to the Tourist Office and decide upon where the après ski or none slope based activities will lead you.
Font Romeu has every activity you could dream of for culture vultures, adrenalin junkies, nature lovers and children. You can even go thermal water canyoning...
Its Famille Plus Montagne award means that it has been awarded by the French Ministry of Tourism's seal of approval for being family friendly and supplying excellent facilities and services for families.

Skiing

The sunny ski resort of Font Romeu Pyrénées 2000 is situated above the pretty village of Font Romeu. As its name implies, the ski area is made up of the two areas of Font Romeu and Bolquère - Pyrénées 2000. The two of them are connected via the Col del Pam.  It is a great All Rounder resort but it is particularly good for intermediate and beginner skiers. It is a warm and welcoming mountain resort located at high altitude skiing with excellent snow making facilities. It has over 500 strategically placed snow canons to ensure great snow coverage at all times. The southern part of the ski area has very much a fun focus. Fun filled themed ski runs lead to sun drenched outdoor terraces with sun loungers whilst children's play areas are filled with small igloos and little chalets. The ski area feels like a relaxed snowy beach with all the sunshine and fun on offer. This must be the nearby Spanish influence.

As well as its extensive downhill ski runs, with 111km of trails has the best and most cross country ski offering within the Pyrenees and has therefore been awarded the Nordique France label.

The ski area is split into three distinct sectors: La Gallinera, La Calme and Pyrénées 2000. Pyrénées 2000 (1,950m-2,213m) offers 58km of ski slopes, 111km of cross-country runs, 500 snow cannons, 1 sledge run, 2 free ski lifts for beginners, 1 boarder cross and 1 slalom.
La Gallinera sector is accessed from the cable car that leaves from font Romeu. Here you will find the enclosed beginner’s area with its sledging run, the ski school and crèche.

Also a short drive away (but local shuttle bus that runs every 15minutes) is the Plateau Des Airelles parking area with its restaurant and chair lift access to the main ski area. Gallinera peak (2,127m) is easily accessed by the Airelles chairlift.
La Calme is the sector is named after Roc de la Calme, the 2,213 peak that is the highest point in the ski resort. It is here that you will find the more difficult runs, the reds and blacks in the ski area. The southerly side of the La Calme area is open whilst the north facing side is gladed. 

Pyrénées 2000 sector forms the eastern part of the ski area and is located above the car park of the same name. The small village of Bolquère is situated at its base too. There is a car park and a few restaurants at its base and a high speed chairlift called Belvedere that takes you to the top to the Col du Pam.

The resort is also part of the Neiges Catalanes Pass, which grants access to skiing in 7 neighbouring ski resorts
