Why come to Val d’Isère ?

1. The authentic mountain village

The village of Val d’Isère is a charming Savoyard community centred around a baroque church and ancient stone chalets built in traditionnal style. Val d’Isère is a land of heritage set around the story of the pioneering families who built it and still live here. 

You’ll find in the village welcoming hotels and chalets, nice shops but also gourmet restaurants. It’s not by chance that Val d’Isère is well known for its french art de vivre.

With Michelin-starred and traditional restaurants along with cool bars nothing here is actually left to Lady Luck. These factors all add up to make Val d’Isère a favourite destination for people who truly appreciate the good things in life.

Val d’Isère in a land full of history. The local families turned their litlle mountain village into a world class international tourist destination set in beautiful natural surroundings. In Val You’re skiing in the footsteps of Jean Claude Killy and the other great ski champions of the past who learned their skills here. 2. The ski area

So the village is set in one of the most beautiful ski area in the world. Val has been recognised as a world-class ski resort for more than 80 years. Linked with neigboor resort Tignes, The Val d’Isere-Tignes ski area has 300km of slopes served by 75 lifts, along with endless off-piste and ski touring opportunities. 

The ski area is for all: from beginners to expert skiers. 

Accomplished skiers can test themselves on the steep Face de Bellevarde and explore outstanding off-piste opportunities. Beginners can find their ski legs on gentle nursery slopes at the top of Solaise, before progressing to easy blue runs nearby. Val d’Isère is a family destination that is the proud holder of the French government’s coveted Family Plus label. High on Solaise and Bellevarde children can explore their own dedicated Val Kids play areas. Here they can learn to ski and find out in a fun way about all the different jobs on the mountain. To maintain it high quality, Val d’Isère sleek Poma Symphony 10 gondola cabins that replaced the old Solaise Express chair-lift in 2018.

3. Guaranteed snow

The ski area stretches from 1550m to 3500m. Snow Cover is guaranteed from late November when the resort opens for the season until the beginning of May when the winter lifts finally close. Situated close to the Italian frontier at the high altitude of 1850m the resort has its own favourable micro-climate. As in other European resorts much of the snowfall comes in from west, but Val

d’Isère also benefits from a secondary weather pattern.

The so-called retour d’est phenomenon frequently sweeps up from the Mediterranean to dump copious quantities of powder snow on the mountains, ensuring ensure optimum cover across the ski area. To back up nature, especially at the beginning of the season and for World Cup races, the resort’s Snow Factory is one of the most efficient in Europe
